If you would like to volunteer with us this upcoming school year. We are always in need of volunteer catechists, catechist aides, substitutes, and hall monitors. All Faith Formation classes (grades 1-8) are taught by volunteer teachers (catechists). Teaching experience is not necessary. You will be provided with all the necessary materials as a catechist. Training and support over the summer and during the school year will be offered as needed. Classes will be offered on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at St. Mary’s in East Islip for both St. Mary and St. Peter the Apostle Faith Formation students.
If you have a desire to pass on the Faith to the students in our program and have free time one day out of the week, please fill out a volunteer form and call or visit the Faith Formation Office to inquire. If you know someone who may be a great fit for this ministry, please extend the invitation to them.
To ensure a safe learning environment, VIRTUS certification and a background check will be required if you are 18 and over. Please review the diocesan requirements and instructions if you are at least 18 years old and plan to volunteer. You may contact our office if you need assistance with this.
